Dubai | Passengers at Dubai International Airport will soon be able to go through security checks without removing bottles and electronic devices from their cabin luggage. Officials stated at the conference on the future of ports that concluded yesterday in Dubai that the process will be speeded up through the smart scanning system.

Technology services company Emaratech has announced that it is developing a smart scanning system. Certification for the technology is awaited and it is expected to be launched by the end of this year or early next year.

Carry-on bags will be placed on the smart trolley and passed through the smart X-ray scanner. The materials inside the bags will be analyzed and color coded. Green means safe. Those requiring personal security check will be marked in red. All permitted bottles, liquids and electronic devices will appear in green on the display. Items in red will be checked further

The new system will significantly reduce the time of baggage check. It can handle 450 passengers per hour. The current average is 150 passengers per hour. Authorities clarified.

Creative policies
At the conference, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA-Dubai) announced five new proactive policies.

These are follow-up security of law breakers and foreigners, smooth travel through airports, safe land and sea port policy, human and economic resource development policy and happy resident policy.
