Winston-Salem.- A woman was injured on the night of the Fourth of July celebration in Winston-Salem by a stray projectile that hit her in the chest.
The Winston-Salem Police Department reported that the events occurred around 10:00 pm at an address on North Main Street, north of the city.
Officers arrived at the scene in response to a report of gunshots and upon arrival found the victim.
The woman was identified as Sylvia Renea McKellar, 51, who had a chest injury apparently caused by a firearm.
Due to her injury, McKellar was taken to a hospital for medical attention, without further details of her health status.
The initial investigation into the events revealed that the victim was in front of the home living with neighbors and acquaintances on July 4.
Thus, while she was watching the fireworks, she was suddenly hit by what the authorities consider so far as a stray projectile.
The authorities indicated that the facts are already being investigated, so information is received on the phone 336-728-3904with service in Spanish.
