According to the fire department, the young male had been around for a few weeks. First a horse paddock, then a piece of land not far from the Egelsee inn was his quarters. The animal may have spent the night in a barn.
Because the peacock liked to walk on the Egelsee streets, a resident decided to notify the animal rescue service, the FF Krems reported. Together with four helpers from the Egelsee fire station, the employees of the sanctuary and meeting place in Brunn im Felde managed to catch the bird with a net.
In a transport box, they then headed towards their new home. At the “Sandlerranch” in the district of Krems, the peacock will be cared for in the future and should keep a conspecific company who already lives on the farm.
