Strategies for Career Growth: A Journey of Quitting and Changing Jobs for Personal Advancement

Today I’m going to write a shorter article than usual. It’s not a big reason, but I introduced my writing to my friends and some of them gave me feedback that the writing seemed a bit long. Of course, I feel grateful because he spoke after reading my article to the end. I would like to thank everyone who told me that they enjoyed reading this article even though it was neither informative nor interesting.

Have you ever dreamed of quitting your job or changing jobs?

You probably think about quitting and changing jobs on your way to work, or even when you get scolded by your boss or get a bad evaluation of the plan you created.

Of course, I did that too.

Therefore, rather than these obvious stories, I would like to tell a deeper story.

Previously, I briefly introduced my company.

Let’s talk a little more about the planning team. It consisted of about 10 people, and at the time I left the company, there were two planners who could be called my seniors.

There are 10 people on the planning team, but a planner with 4 years of experience is the 3rd in terms of experience?

Yes.

In the previous episode, I said that I had experience working on a project alone, and that lasted for four years.

Of course, other planners helped me by dividing the work when I was overloaded.

However, from the beginning to the end of the project, I was usually in charge of planning and communication alone.

I hope you don’t misunderstand. The planning and communication I was doing was always carried out after receiving confirmation from my manager and CEO. I have only played my role as the main character.

In any case, in this situation, I was unable to take charge of the project for four years while learning from my senior or predecessor.

It may be ironic to say that you learn from the position of working for a company while receiving a salary, but wouldn’t you be able to grow a little faster and make more stable decisions as a planner if you had someone to guide you rather than trying to start from scratch while communicating a project alone?

However, I was in a blind spot when it came to learning and guidance, and this always made me feel sad and upset.

Until the second year, I felt like I was hitting the ground running every day.

As time went by, I became a planner for 4 years and the 3rd person in the planning team by experience.

Was it from this time? When the moment came when my juniors or colleagues asked me questions, my mind became confused.

If it were me, I would have done this… is this right?…

Is it okay for me to give you a guide like this?…

Could it be that I unconsciously force my own work style too much?

and

If someone had told me…

If only I had seen someone give me guidance…

By watching and learning like that, I would have been able to teach someone my own speaking style…

A similar regret followed.

I think it was around this time that my confidence in myself began to decline.

I felt like the answer to every question was wrong, and I felt like I was moving away from who I had always been just a year or two ago.

As soon as I started having these concerns, I started thinking about changing this place and this environment.

Therefore, I thought I needed someone’s guidance in order to grow a little more, and I wanted to change the environment to one where I could grow a little more by focusing on myself rather than focusing on what was still leading me.

In order to grow to the next level, I dreamed of quitting my job and changing jobs.

As I was using the word growth, I remembered a story from a scientist in the past and would like to share it with you.

Crustaceans, unlike humans, are said to have no bones inside and hard shells. In order for such crustaceans to grow, they must shed their hard shell, but immediately after molting, the crustacean’s epidermis is said to be very weak. Therefore, it is said that crustaceans grow only at the moment when they are weakest, and that humans will also be like crustaceans. We do not grow when we feel like we are dying and feel hurt by just a passing glance, rather than when we feel like we are dying and feel hurt by just passing by.

There may be many reasons for my decision to quit and change jobs, such as difficulties at the agency, salary, and my life balance, but one of them is growth.

In the agency environment I had become accustomed to, I began to doubt my choices and direction, and there was a time when I became anxious after getting used to it.

After being hurt by my lack of confidence and going through a difficult time, I think I was able to grow during that time.

Even today, I feel like I’m being deceived and believe the saying that moments when you’re having a hard time are moments when you can grow.
