A stage of the 2023 Tour de France has just been played and some teams and riders have already seen the need to change their strategies. This is the case of the Colombian cyclist Daniel Felipe Martínez (INEOS Grenadiers), who had a hard time on the first day of competition, lost just over three minutes and his chances of fighting for the general classification faded.
Aware of this and understanding that there are other riders on his team who will be able to fulfill that role, prior to the second day of competition he made it clear what he has in mind, especially when the route for this Sunday, July 2, is mid-mountain, once more . This was expressed in an interview with Diego Alberto, a journalist for Caracol Sports and special envoy to the race.
“Today’s stage is quite demanding, the last climb is going to be hard and we will be waiting for what is going to happen. Now, the strategy, personally, is going to be to lose time, thinking regarding what can be done the next few days”, explained the man born in Soacha, who has not had a good 2023. In fact, some are already linking him to a possible arrival at Bora Hansgrohe in 2024.

Turning the page and speaking of the British team as such, he dared to name two of those who might battle for the yellow jersey, which, for now, is in the hands of Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates), who won the the opening day of the ‘Grande Boucle’. In his words, Daniel Felipe Martínez chose a compatriot and one who ‘steals’ glances.
“We are doing well in the INEOS Grenadiers. Both Egan Bernal and Carlos Rodríguez are doing well and I am sure they can fight in the general classification of the competition. The rest of the team will try to go looking for stage victory”, the Colombian athlete declared. This being the case, a stage victory for ‘Dani’ is not ruled out, since he has already changed his plan and hopes to make us celebrate.
