(Archyde.com) — This Thursday morning a stowaway was found alive, but in critical condition, in the landing gear compartment of an Air Algeria plane at Paris’ Orly airport, a security source with knowledge of the matter told Archyde.com.
The person was in mortal danger and was being treated at a nearby hospital, the source said.
The plane came from the Algerian city of Oran, a two and a half hour flight from Paris.
Stowaways in aircraft cockpits and non-pressurized cargo holds can face temperatures between -50 and -60 degrees Celsius, as well as a lack of oxygen.
In 2019, the body of a suspected stowaway fell hundreds of meters from a plane flying over south-west London into the garden of a man’s home.
In 2015, the body of a stowaway from a British Airways flight from Johannesburg to Heathrow fell onto a shop in Richmond, southwest London. A second stowaway survived the 10-hour flight and was found in the plane’s undercarriage.
