The past storms have caused damage of around 1.6 million euros in Carinthia, Styria and Burgenland. This was announced by the Austrian hail insurance in a broadcast. “Within 48 hours, local agriculture was once more damaged by severe storms,” ​​spokesman Mario Winkler was quoted as saying. Arable crops and grassland in particular fell victim to the heavy rain and hail.

The storms raged most violently in the Styrian districts of Graz-Umwelt, Weiz, Hartberg-Fürstenfeld and Southeast Styria. According to hail insurance, an area of ​​5,700 hectares was affected. The amount of damage is 700,000 euros.

In Carinthia, the districts of Völkermarkt, Wolfsberg and St. Veit an der Glan and a total area of ​​5,700 hectares were particularly affected. The hail insurance accounted for around 600,000 euros in damage there.

In Burgenland, the storms mainly hit agricultural areas in the Mattersburg district. 1,400 hectares of agricultural land were affected by thunderstorms. A damage of 300,000 euros was incurred.
