The wave of thunderstorms is present over the country this Sunday, August 14, but it seems less intense than this morning. Meteo France has placed 7 departments on orange storm alert and 67 on yellow alert.
7 departments still on orange alert
Orange vigilance for thunderstorms is maintained in 7 departments: Ain (01), Ardèche (07), Drôme (26), Isère (38), Loire (42), Haute-Loire (43) and Rhône (69).
Rain or showers sometimes mixed with thunderclaps will spread from the northwest and from Normandy to the center and the Paris region. “They are more lasting and temporarily marked over Brittany and the Pays de la Loire, locally giving significant accumulations of water. Further south, following a short lull, new locally heavy stormy showers cross the Dordogne, Limousin, the Massif Central and Languedoc towards Burgundy Franche-Comté, Rhône-Alpes and PACA”, forecasts Météo France.
The meteorological service expects strong gusts of wind due to thunderstorms: 60 to 80 km/h. Hail should appear while the intensity of certain precipitation will be high: up to 10 to 20 mm in 1/2 hour to 1 hour.
2 departments, Nord and Pas-de-Calais, remain on yellow alert during the heat wave.
