Ricky Pérez was one of those strikers who might sometimes go unnoticed but who always recorded good goalscoring numbers at the end of the year. He played and scored for important clubs such as Melgar, Cienciano and today’s Ayacucho FC, although he is perhaps best remembered for the celebrated promotions of Deportivo Municipal in 2006 and Sport Boys in 2009.

Already retired from activity on the playing fields, the good Ricky recalled some anecdotes from his time in national football. In an interview with the youtube channel ‘Speak Beard’the former attacker told stories unknown to many fans.
Franco Navarro and the ‘reception’ to ‘Pituquito’ Rossel
Pérez had a good 2007 with Cienciano, with Pepe Basualdo as DT. played everything. However, Franco Navarro had arrived to replace the Argentine and did not take the attacker much into account. Already determined to leave, Ricky informed Juvenal Silva of his intentions.
“He told me, if you get equipment I’ll lend you, but until then, you have to come to do the preseason”Perez says. But, rebellious as he is, Ricky took his vacation while looking for a club to play for in the 2008 season.
LThe preseason of Cienciano had already been 5 days but Ricky Pérez did not show up. A call from Juvenal Silva forced him to take the first plane to Cusco. “I came back without notifying anyone, I arrived at the hotel and I wanted to hang out, grab my room and that’s it. But the first one I meet is Franco (Navarro)”held.
“”He tells me: “And you?, I told him: “Teacher, if I want to go if I am not going to play with you”, narrowed down After eating the reprimand, Navarro asked him regarding Víctor Rossel, who was in a similar situation. “I thought she was already here”Perez replied.
“He grabs his nextel and calls out to him. The first thing she said to him was: “Hey, hue…where are you”, thus lying to the mother. Rossel thought he was a friend. “Here I am hu…, on the beach”, he replied. “Franco Navarro is speaking to you, if you’re not here tomorrow, I’ll kill you,” Franco said. The next day he arrived packed ”he recounted.
Rossel’s reception was not as friendly as Ricky’s. “They grabbed him with sticks, Franco punched him more, Franco is really screwed up (laughs)”ended.
When he “sawed” his uncle Aldo Cavero
His first stint at Melgar in 2005-2006 did not end well. He had arranged to renew, they gave him some money and he went on vacation. However, the leadership of the team changed and they wanted to lower his salary, something that he did not accept and he ended up leaving the club… without returning what they had already given him, obviously.
The problem now was to find a team, however, the family was always there to support him, just like his uncle Aldo Cavero did. “He had been at Deportivo Municipal a year before, he scored goals and they told him to renew. “Let’s go to Muni”, he tells me he ”counted
“When I show up, they end up calling me and not him, so I called him and told him. He told me: “You fix it, I’m already on my way out, I’m going to retire, nothing happens “. So I went and fixed it and that’s where the story with Muni begins.”he recounted.
Leaving Talara in a tank and the pichi bag to Pajuelo
Ricky Pérez was part of that remembered Sport Boys team in 2009, the one who achieved promotion. One of the key victories for that title was in Talara, although the post match was not as sweet as the victory.
“In Talara they didn’t let us leave the stadium until nightfall. To get out they sent us a police tank and the hotel was two blocks away. The party ended at 4 in the followingnoon and we left at 7″, he counted.
“They caught it with Pajuelo and Waldir, with us not so much. Pajuelo is a Christian and wanted to calm people down: “Calm down, boys”, but worse, he even fell for pichi, well-bred (laughs)”sentenced.
