“Stop the drama, challenge me at the convention” –

Joe Biden is not backing down and, indeed, is relaunching his ability to lead the United States. The president, in a letter sent to Democrats in Congress, insists that he “refuses” to step aside and says that it is time for the internal drama within the party that has torn Democrats apart over whether or not he should remain in the race for the White House to “end.” “The question of how to move forward has been debated for over a week now. And it is time for it to end,” Biden writes in today’s two-page letter, stressing that the party has “only one task,” namely to defeat Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in November and therefore continuing to firmly oppose calls to abandon the race.

For the post-Biden era, there is the Obamez card. Major maneuvers between Washington and Rome

“We have 42 days to go until the Democratic National Convention and 119 days to go until the general election,” Biden says in the letter. “Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity on the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us. It is time to unite, move forward as a united party and defeat Donald Trump,” the incumbent president says. The letter was sent by Biden’s campaign to Democratic congressmen upon their return to Washington following the July 4 recess. But that’s not all. Biden attacks the “Democratic elites” who are calling on him to withdraw. “Challenge me at the convention,” the American president says in an interview with MSNBC. “I am increasingly frustrated with the party elites,” Biden says. “Any of them who think I shouldn’t run, run for president and challenge me at the convention.”
