Political responsibility must finally also apply to the SPÖ – the double standards must end

Vienna (OTS) – “All red rezoning speculators must suspend their offices. It is time for the SPÖ to hold itself to the standards it demands from everyone else. In comparable situations, representatives of other parties had to suspend their offices until the allegations were fully clarified. It is incomprehensible why this should suddenly no longer apply just because the accused have a red party register. Now the SPÖ can prove that it is serious about transparency,” commented the General Secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, on the SPÖ’s handling of the recently announced scandal surrounding the allotment garden dedications in Vienna Donaustadt.

“Measuring the SPÖ with double standards is not okay. What applies to one must also apply to the other. This applies above all to the clarification of the allegations, where the same persistence must be shown that the SPÖ always demands from everyone else. The SPÖ politicians affected, such as district leader Ernst Nevrivy and MP Petra Bayr, must quickly ensure full clarification,” concluded Stocker.
