Vienna (OTS) – “Interior Minister Gerhard Karner is successfully implementing recruitment measures in the executive branch. Although the shortage of workers and skilled workers also affects the Ministry of the Interior, the measures taken by the Minister of the Interior have succeeded in making the Ministry of the Interior an attractive place to work. The diverse and clever innovations for the police trainees, including the free climate ticket, a higher salary or the opportunity to get a driver’s license during training, were among the decisive factors here. With 32,000 police officers, we are currently recording an all-time high in the police force,” says the Secretary General and security spokesman for the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, pleased with the positive developments in the Ministry of the Interior.

“This year alone there are currently more than 1,100 new admissions. The recruitment measures have had an effect. As of August 28, 2023, the interior department already has 3,226 applicants with the adapted new admissions procedure with the start of training in December: an increase of 119 percent,” Stocker concludes.
