Babeler wants to reintroduce a tax that was abolished decades ago

Vienna (OTS) “Babler’s tax and burden fantasies belong in the political mothball. Because Austria is a high-tax country. Before we talk regarding further burdens on citizens, we should rather talk regarding relief. Whenever the SPÖ calls for a tax for millionaires, it is to be feared that medium-sized companies will be asked to pay. These tax, burden and prohibition fantasies are a first step towards communism. And one thing history has taught us: In all those countries in which communism was made a program, the rights of the citizens were curtailed, the economy was broken up and the social system was also restricted. On the contrary, as the People’s Party we want to relieve the burden on small and medium-sized businesses and not add any additional burdens,” said the General Secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, in a clear rejection of Babler’s fantasies of left-wing burdens and prohibitions.

“It probably won’t be long before an SPÖ head of state steps out once more and puts Babler’s next ‘semantic sophistry’ into perspective. But here one can no longer speak of slips, because one recognizes a red populist pattern and the list is now long: 32-hour week, cannabis legalization or 100 km/h. There is no support within the party for his tax fantasies either. He should not be pursuing a populist but a factual policy in the interests of the people in Austria,” concludes Stocker.
