The new SPÖ chairman is aiming for a left-wing coalition in Austria
Vienna (OTS) – “After the SPÖ, Doskozil also wants to split the country. Just a few minutes following being elected SPÖ chairman, Hans Peter Doskozil rejected a coalition with both the Freedom Party and the People’s Party. This mission by Doskozil is not only extremely undemocratic, but also shows one thing clearly: Doskozil is striving for a left-wing coalition between SPÖ, NEOS and the Greens at all costs. This left coalition would be devastating for our country. In Austria, a clear bourgeois handwriting of a Christian-social party is needed, which only the People’s Party has,” says the General Secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker.
“The fact that the country can be governed following the next election should be more important than the crucial question of social democracy within the party. Because with the clear rejection of ÖVP and FPÖ as government partners, Doskozil wants to close the SPÖ’s internal rifts and win a leap of faith among Babler supporters. This party-political tactic is damaging to the Republic and should not be the maxim according to which a party leader acts,” Stocker continues and finally emphasizes: “Doskozil leaves behind a mountain of debt in Burgenland, this model must not be transferred to Austria. The country still needs a middle-class party in the federal government. One thing will be important for the coming elections: only those who vote for the People’s Party can prevent a left-left government. The only guarantor for sensible politics with common sense is the People’s Party.”
