After a Monday in the red, the world places continued their fall on Tuesday, weighed down by the prospect of a rapid hike in US Federal Reserve interest rates and a sharp slowdown in global growth. European markets started by rebounding before sinking into the red.
After losing 8% in five sessions , the CAC 40 was moving towards a new session of decline on Tuesday, an unprecedented series since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Parisian index, down 0.57%, sank below 6,000 points at the end of the morning, a hair’s breadth from its lowest level of the year reached on March 8. The Paris Bourse has plunged 18.8% since its record of January 5 to 7,376 points. For its part, the DAX in Frankfurt lost 0.18%.
