Investing.com – US stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher. On the other hand, losses were recorded in the , and sectors, which led the indices down.

Among the leading stocks today was McDonald’s (NYSE: NYSE), which rose by 1.94%, or 5.22 points, to close at 274.11. In contrast, shares Chevron Corp (NYSE:) added 1.65% or 2.93 points to end at 180.49, while Apple Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 0.88% or 1.18 points to 135.94 by the end of the session.
As for the worst performer at the end of the day’s trading, Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:) closed down by 6.44%, or 24.08 points, and traded at 349.92 levels at the close. Shares of Travelers Kos Company (NYSE:) declined 4.60% or 8.92 points to end at 185.00 and Verizon Communications Company (NYSE:) closed down 2.41% or 1.01 points to 40.85.
On the other hand, the best performance in the Standard & Poor’s 500 index was recorded by Tesla (NASDAQ:) shares, which rose by 7.43% at 131.49, Morgan Stanley (NYSE:) also continued its rise by 5.91% and closed at 97.08 levels. Likewise, the share of NVIDIA Group (NASDAQ:) rose by 4.75% and ended its trading at a price of 177.02.
Among the stocks that performed the weakest today, we mention the stock of Emerson Electric Co. (NYSE:), which fell by 6.82%, and closed its session at a price of 91.24, and the stock of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE:), which lost 6.44%, at a price of 349.92, and shares of Mohawk Industries (NYSE:), which weakened by 6.30% and closed at 111.18 in today’s session on the stock market.
On the other hand, the best performance in the Nasdaq index was recorded by shares Celyad SA (NASDAQ:), which rose by 137.80%, at 1.90, Calyxt Inc (NASDAQ:) also continued its rise at 90.25% and closed at 0.35 levels, as well as the stock Avenue Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) It rose by 60.48% and ended its trading at a price of 1.99.
Among the stocks with the weakest performance today, we mention the share of Viveve Medical Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell by 70.54%, and closed its session at a price of 0.26, the share of Edesa Biotech Inc (NASDAQ:), which lost 42.06%, at a price of 1.46, and the share of Angion Corporation. Biomedica (NASDAQ: ), which weakened by 30.88% and closed at 0.70 in the day’s session on the exchange.
The number of gainers exceeded the number of shares that closed lower in trading on the New York Stock Exchange with 1580 compared to 1489, while 91 remained unchanged. As for the Nasdaq stock exchange, 1952 among the stocks strengthened their position and 1783 retreated, while 157 of the stocks maintained their value.
