Stina Nilsson, 31, has put the biathlon rifle on the shelf.
On Sunday, the investment in long-distance running began – and there was a direct win in the Klarälvsloppet.
– I am so very satisfied, she tells TV4.
On April 25, Stina Nilsson announced that the investment in biathlon was over.
The successes did not materialize and instead the 31-year-old chose to return to cross-country skiing – but that the focus will be on long races.
On Sunday, she ran her first competition of the season on roller skis and showed old beats.
The Swede sprinted down Norwegian Vasalopp winner Emilie Fleten, 32, on the run of the nine-mile race.
– This is the first time all summer that I go with girls, so I have no point of reference. I figured I might as well be 20 minutes behind today. I had no idea at all, says Nilsson to TV4.
“Made the right choice…”
Nilsson, who had never before ridden nine miles in a competitive format.
– I feel that I have made the right choice to make this investment, she says.
The 31-year-old has 23 World Cup victories in cross-country skiing, second most among Swedish skiers behind Gunde Svan.
