Justice approves extradition request against Karen Rojo: still a fugitive after traveling to the Netherlands
The Antofagasta Guarantee Court confirmed the extradition against the former mayor of the commune, Karen Rojo Venegaswho remains a fugitive after leaving Chile while discussing how he should serve his sentence for Treasury fraud.
It was the Regional Prosecutor’s Office itself that requested the recourse to justice, seeking to arrest the former communal chief, about whom there is a red alert by Interpol for your capture in any of the 195 countries that make up the organization.
Note that Rojo left Santiago on March 23, taking a plane to amsterdamNetherlands, his whereabouts currently unknown.
However, the prosecutor in the case, Cristián Aguilar, stated that “There is reliable evidence that he entered the Netherlands” and that remains in that area “there are no migratory movements”.
Likewise, the aforementioned has a reservation for “another European airport” during the month of April, being necessary for the Public Ministry to find his location as soon as possible and to present himself in Chile.
Aguilar added that, once she is arrested, specific precautionary measures will be requested, such as preventive detention.

César Ramos, Rojo’s lawyer, criticized the persecutor, alluding that this “He only knows that he traveled to Amsterdam, but there is an assumption about his current whereabouts.”
“The Prosecutor’s Office ultimately is that it does not know where it is currently,” he continued.
Remember that the Supreme Court confirmed that Rojo, after being sentenced to 5 years in prison for fraud against the Treasury, must serve his sentence with effective prison.
