The roof of a building is an important, usually very large element that is visible from afar. The shape and roof covering not only shape the appearance of a house, but also of the entire roof landscape.
Steyr’s old town has a largely intact and uniform roof landscape, the structural structure of which determines the characteristic appearance of the old town. What is significant are the unity of the roofs, the different shades of color of the mostly red tile covering, the different orientation and steepness as well as the historically developed ventilation and lighting openings.
The topographical location of the city offers impressive views of the inner city – Steyrdorf – Ennsdorf districts not only from the street, but also from elevated locations.
The Old Town Preservation team invites you to experience and discover the roof landscape worthy of protection on a tour of Steyr’s old town.
