Hans-Jörg Kaiser, the then head of the department for old town preservation in the Steyr municipality, established the prize in 1998. There are a total of around 700 listed objects in Steyr, making Steyr the city with the highest density of monuments in Austria.
This year the following were honored with the Steyr Panther: Boris Greiner (mohumo GmbH) for the complete renovation of the craftsman’s house at Gleinker Gasse 33; Hannes Kirchner (ELF Immobilien GmbH) for the overall renovation of the former civil servants’ residence at Dr.-Kompaß-Gasse 4; Maria Brand, Fabia Podgorschek, Marie-Luise Reinecke, Katharina Breunhölder and Pina Klonner for outstanding practical and theoretical achievements in the field of building research. The awarding of the Steyr Panther recently took place in the ballroom of the town hall.
