Stephen Thompson hopes to face Nick Diaz after UFC Orlando: ‘That would be really cool!’

Welterweight No. 6 Stephen Thompson is hoping to take on Nick Diaz if the former Strikeforce champion returns to competition.

Stephen Thompson hasn’t fought since suffering a second straight loss to Belal Muhammad last December. Prior to this, Wonderboy lost by decision to Gilbert Burnsat UFC 264.

A year after his last appearance, Thompson is set to return this weekend against Kevin Holland, in the main event of UFC Orlando. Although he does not take this next challenge lightly, the karateka already has an idea about the name of his future opponent.

The Stockton native has not returned to competition since losing by TKO to Robbie Lawler last September. However, he plans to step back into the Octagon in 2023.
