Former Liverpool legend, Stephen Gerrard, said that he had rejected an offer to train the Saudi Al-Ittifaq club.
Gerrard has not supervised any team since he was sacked as Aston Villa coach last October.
Saudi and English newspapers published pictures of Gerrard during his visit to Saudi Arabia in early June, specifically to the eastern city of Dammam, where Al-Ettifaq plays, as it was reported that the latter made an offer to supervise him next season.
“I was invited there to search for a possible offer, and this is what I did,” Gerrard told Channel 4, ahead of the start of the England-North Macedonia match in the 2024 European Cup qualifiers on Monday.
He added, “I have analyzed things in the last two days, but at the present time I have not accepted this offer.”
Gerrard, 43, who retired permanently in 2016, entered the training arena two years later, as he took over the supervision of the Scottish Rangers and led him to his first title in the local league following an absence of 10 years.
Gerrard moved to Aston Villa in November 2021 and played in the midfield of England, supervising 40 matches in various competitions, during which he won only 13.
