Stefan Pokorny will strengthen the Thalheim Graz Giants coaches in the 2024 season as defensive back coach and special teams coordinator. Pokorny, who most recently led the Milano Seaman ELF team as head coach, is no stranger to Austria: from 2016-2021 he was the head coach of the AFL team Danube Dragons and held various coaching positions in the men’s national team from 2013-2019. His greatest successes were a flawless completion of the basic round with the Milano Seaman 2022 and the development of the Danube Dragons during his time as head coach (2016-2021), where he led the team from sixth to third place.
Pokorny is looking forward to his new role with the Giants: “After two years in Italy, it felt right for me to come back to Austria. The Giants have a long tradition in Austrian football with a very good environment. After the first conversations, it became clear to me very quickly that I wanted to come here. I’m really looking forward to working with the team and hope that we can celebrate many successes together.”
Pokorny has already had the chance to get to know the Thalheim Graz Giants team and work with the players in the last few months. He was also able to get involved in the Giants’ youth football team in the fall.
