Did you know that?
- Vladimír Dravecký will play once morest Olomouc the 600th extra-league match for Ocelář, as only the fifth player in the club’s history!
- Two other players from Třinec will also celebrate their career jubilee once morest Olomouc. Defender Richard Nedomlel will play his 400th match in the top Czech competition, Tomáš Kundrátek his 300th match in the extra league.
- The Steelers are looking forward to the return of Marek Daň to the lineup. If the Slovak gunner starts already on Wednesday once morest Olomouc, he can attack the milestone of 100 Canadian points in the top Czech competition. He currently has 98 (54+44) on his account. At the same time, Andrej Nestrašil, who is waiting for his 100th goal record for the Steelers, can also surpass the jubilee goal.
Steelers: Challenging international break
The steel players have the last representative break of the season behind them, the last respite before the crushing finish of the entire year.
However, the well-deserved time off did not apply to everyone, as there was a lot of interest in the national teams from Třinec, so the coaches in the WERK ARENA were defacto only left with the torso of the team. “We had a poor number of players here, but the training sessions were of high quality. We did more individual activities and game combinations, nothing into a system, which we need to start working on and fine-tune before the end of the season,” says coach Zdeněk Moták.
Daniel Voženílek is the most productive Czech representative this season, on Sunday he scored two goals in the victory over Switzerland and made a strong claim regarding being nominated for the home World Cup.
Outside were Martin Růžička, Daniel Voženílek, Slovaks Patrik Hrehorčák, Miloš Roman and Viliam Čacho, as well as young people from Třinec Petr Sikora and Miroslav Holinka. “We squirmed and watched. They did very well and we hoped no one would get hurt,” Moták said. For example, good news did not come from Slovakia. “But Miloš Roman already injured himself in the match once morest Vítkovice, we can’t blame anyone and I think that those who suffered some kind of scar will soon get together,” said Moták.
Třinec’s line-up is therefore uncertain on Wednesday. The return of Marko Daň to the lineup, who is training with the team following a long injury, remains a question. “We go match by match, we want to succeed in each one. It’s regarding having the best possible starting position for the playoffs,” concluded Moták.
The Steelers are third in the line-up, they already have a thirteen-point advantage over fifth-placed Litvínov. The certainty of direct progress to the quarter-finals is thus relatively close. In the next eight matches, however, Třinečtí will play on their own ice only three times, and therefore they will not want to lose once morest Olomouc on Wednesday.
Olomouc: A team that can bite
Olomouc is a team that is never a pleasant opponent.
Although the Steelers won all matches once morest each other for three points this season, and the home game in the fall was even 5-0, the Hanáci are not among their favorite opponents. After all, last season Třinec lost both home matches with them.
Also in this year’s addition, Mora can really bite the favorites. After the New Year, Sparta already succeeded on the ice, at home before the national team break Olomouc defeated the leader Pardubice. Coach Jan Tomajko’s team is known for its tenacious, fierce and tactical hockey. And when the form of the goalkeeper Branislav Konrád also comes together, Olomouc will be defeated very hard.
The goalkeeper of Olomouc Branislav Konrád is the unshakable number one of the team, the success rate of saves just under 92% makes him one of the best goalkeepers in the extra league this season.
Hanáci are in ninth place in the table, no one will deny them a place in the preliminary round. Hradec is one point behind in eighth place, and that is the place Mora will strive for at the end of the regular season. So that the preliminary round series can start on home ice.
The team’s form was also great before the international break. Olomouc comes to Třinec with a streak of four wins in a row!
The team’s most productive player and best scorer is forward Jakub Navrátil, defender Jakub Sirota is also a very prominent figure in the consolidated lineup.
