So there, friends, this is the kind of news that gets people talking in the gaming community! Steam has decided to provide refunds to its users following an accidental release on its platform.

According to Backlinko.com, the Steam platform on PC is one of the most popular among all digital platforms, with more than 50,000 games to choose from, as of March 2021. Sometimes there is a small quack, especially if a game is put online by mistake before its time.

But then, what can we say regarding a game that was launched almost ten years ago? Well, according to Comicbook.com, that’s exactly what happened when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows has apparently been relaunched on Steam.

Developed by Red Fly Studio and published by Activision, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows was originally released for PC and Xbox 360 in August 2013, before coming to PlayStation 3 in April 2014.

Ok, it’s true that TMNT: Out of the Shadows isn’t really a good game. In fact, on Metacritic it only got a measly 38 from critics and 5.4 from users. But we’re still talking regarding the four Ninja Turtles here, and some fans are delighted to find this atmosphere.

Around four years following its exclusively digital release, TMNT: Out of the Shadowswas removed from all platforms on January 4, 2017, as publisher Activision decided not to renew its TMNT license. So when Out of the Shadows suddenly appeared on Steam, some users were more than happy to prematurely purchase the game for $14.99.
For those who purchased the game and realized the error, Steam removed it from its platform and began refunding its customers. Is it that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will officially come back one day? It’s unlikely, and to be honest, it’s a game that’s probably better off in the shadow of New York City.

That said, one game that should never be hidden is the awesome Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge which we called in our review “a contemporary masterpiece of its kind, an exemplary demonstration of how to reinvigorate an already well-explored style following many conventional experiments, and make the journey much more special than the destination.”
