Last month, we discovered that Steam appears to be letting users hide their libraries from prying eyes in the future. Now, with the latest Steam client beta rolling out, the update is here, along with some changes to your shopping cart.
First, though, privacy changed. Now you can almost completely hide your games from friends and other users.“Starting today, you will be able to mark specific games as private and they will disappear from anywhere they are viewed by anyone but you,”Valve wrote。“This includes: your ownership, game status, play time and activity in that game. This additional control allows you to keep most of your Steam library visible to your friends so they can see what you are playing and join in, while also keeping some games just for myself.
The fact that it’s not just your library that’s private and public is a good thing for those who have some games they want to keep hidden. For most users, we’re guessing this won’t be a big deal, but for those who delve into NSFW from time to time, it will be a great feature. After all, Steam does allow just regarding anything to be available on its store, so some of you will have something to hide.
The new shopping cart features appear to have broader appeal, and they allow you to purchase a variety of gifts without having to go through the purchase process multiple times. You only get this option if you choose to join the Steam client beta test, which you can toggle in the Interface tab in Steam Settings.
