At a time when the trial of the bloody Islamist attacks in Brussels is on stand-by, the news of “terrorism” is coming back to us full in the face. Less than three months following the arrest in Antwerp of thirteen people who were preparing actions, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office announced that it had arrested seven people, including young radicalized Chechens, who obviously wanted to attack our institutions.
Even if the threat may seem anecdotal and rather vague, the fact remains that we must remain on our guard. Do not let yourself be lulled into sleep, as was the case in the years preceding the attacks in Paris, followed by those that struck in the heart of our capital. We dare to hope that all risk profiles are now scanned and above all are subject to increased attention.
Ocam, the organization responsible for monitoring this threat, continues to do the job. Obviously, only a few cases are exposed in the media so as not to panic the population. In the viewfinder, (very) young people and girls radicalized at lightning speed and ready to act. Profiles that are sometimes solitary and more complicated to flush out, but to relax vigilance would be suicidal.
