ABU DHABI: The police have warned that vehicles should be extremely careful to avoid catching fire in the extreme summer heat. The warning is part of the ‘Safe Summer’ campaign.
Authorities aim to raise awareness among the public regarding preventive measures as temperatures soar above 50 degrees Celsius in the UAE.
Officials pointed out that vehicles catch fire when safety guidelines are ignored.
The aim of the campaign is to encourage drivers to check the vehicle at regular intervals and carry out necessary repairs, said Major Dr., head of the Fire Department of the Criminal Evidence Department. Engineer Adel Nasib Al-Sakhri said.
Awareness campaigns are being conducted across the country to make vehicles safe from extreme heat.
* Engine coolant level, oil leakage, tire pressure and age, air conditioning system should be checked periodically.
* In case of unusual smoke or smell, park the vehicle immediately and get out.
* Conditions where the vehicle overheats should be avoided.
* Do not keep flammable materials like batteries, perfumes, lighters, sanitizers etc. in the vehicle.
* Fire extinguisher and first aid kit must be carried.
* Do not park vehicles near flammable objects like generators and gas cylinders.
* Only authorized service centers should be relied upon for vehicle inspection.
