Abu Dhabi/Riyadh: Midday break for 3 months starts tomorrow in UAE and Saudi Arabia to provide shelter to workers in the scorching heat. It started on the 1st of this month in Kuwait.
Midday break in UAE from tomorrow to September 15 is from 12.30pm to 3pm. Ministry of Manpower Indigenization has informed that outside work should not be done during lunch break. Rest in Saudi is from 12 noon to 3 pm.
Midday break is given in Gulf countries to protect workers from diseases like sunburn and dehydration. Working hours can be adjusted by making 2 shifts in the morning and evening when the temperature is relatively low or by making a single shift starting at 12 in the morning and ending at 12.
In case of 2nd shift, avoid long journey in hot weather during breaks. Instead, a special refrigerated facility should be provided for resting at the workplace.
