Dubai: Dubai Police has asked people to follow the speed limit in school zones and avoid talking on mobile phones while driving on August 28.
Police reiterated that motorists should always follow the designated lanes and avoid driving when tired. Dubai Police said that other drivers should pay attention to the stop sign displayed by school buses.
Here is the list of penalties for drivers who fail to obey the speed limit:
A fine of Dhs 300 – if the maximum speed limit does not exceed 20 kmph
A fine of Dhs 600 – if the maximum speed limit does not exceed 30 kmph
Dhs 700 fine – Maximum speed limit not exceeding 40 kmph
Dhs 1,000 fine – Maximum speed limit not exceeding 50 kmph
A fine of Dhs 1,500 and 6 black points; Impoundment of vehicle for 15 days for small vehicles – maximum speed limit not exceeding 60 kmph.
Dh2,000 fine and 12 black points; Impoundment of vehicle for 30 days for small vehicles – if the maximum speed limit is more than 60 kmph
Dh3,000 fine and 23 black points; Impoundment of vehicle for 60 days for small vehicles – Maximum speed limit not exceeding 80 kmph.
