2023-08-18 14:09:01

A new tornado watch has been issued for Plymouth and Norfolk counties in Massachusetts.

The advisory expired around 10:08 a.m.

What to do in case of a Tornado

Go immediately to a safe place that you have identified. Pay attention to local alert systems for up-to-date emergency information and instructions. Protect yourself by covering your head or neck with your arms and placing materials such as furniture and blankets around or on top of you. Do not try to outrun a tornado in a vehicle if you are in a car. If you are in a car or outdoors and cannot get to a building, cover your head and neck with your arms and cover your body with a coat or blanket, if possible.

Severe storm warnings have been issued for parts of New England. See the full list of weather alerts here.

This includes Norfolk, Suffolk, Middlesex, Pylmouth, and Bristol counties in Massachusetts and Providence County in Rhode Island.

Additionally, a flash flood watch has been issued for Essex and Middlesex counties in Massachusetts.

We expect the passage of a frontal system today, which will bring showers and thunderstorms. Most of these will occur until shortly after noon. Some of the storms could acquire severe weather characteristics; that is, generate strong winds, hail and some isolated and brief tornado. We expect an improvement in the afternoon.

In the meantime, know that the forecast for the weekend remains favorable; that is, dry and sunny.

As for temperatures, the maximum will be between the low 70°F and 80°F, with minimum in the 60°F, in general.
