Stay Prepared for Thunderstorms and Showers in Belgium – Weather Forecast

2023-06-18 13:37:11

Thunderstorms are expected on Sunday followingnoon, while the mercury will read 23ºC to 28ºC, predicts the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM)

Thanks to the storms, the country will be bathed in a mass of humid and warm air. In the evening and during the night, sometimes stormy showers will pour over the territory from France, mainly in the west and temporarily also in the center of the country, specifies the Royal Meteorological Institute. The latter announces up to 20 liters per square meter during the night, especially in the west. The IRM has therefore issued a yellow alert for West Flanders. As for the minima, they will then oscillate between 13ºC and 19ºC under a light to moderate wind.

To deal with a risk of storm or flood, the Federal Public Service (FPS) Interior activated Sunday the call number 1722 dedicated to non-emergency firefighter interventions.

On Monday, the sky will be divided between clouds and clearings, but the weather will be generally dry. The maximums will be between 21ºC at sea and 28ºC in Campine. However, a new wave of showers and thunderstorms will attack the Flat Country from France.

On Tuesday, expect similar temperatures. A patch of rain will move away towards the Netherlands during the morning and the rest of the morning will be mostly dry with sunny spells. But stormy showers will reappear from France during the followingnoon.
