Stay Prepared for the Changing Weather: First Alert Team’s Weather Alerts for New England

2023-08-07 11:39:35

After wonderful summer weather this weekend, humidity, showers and thunder will return to the forecast for the next several days. An approaching warm front will push up through the region on Monday, bringing scattered showers beginning in the morning, continuing through the followingnoon and into the evening.

The instability is pretty limited on Monday, which means our thunder threat is pretty low. An isolated rumble cannot be ruled out, mainly indoors. High temperatures will peak in the 70s with increasing humidity throughout the day.

By Tuesday, the low pressure and its associated cold front will arrive, fueling scattered thunderstorms, some of which might become severe. Although the threat is isolated, a few storms, damaging wind gusts, and localized flooding are the main threats.

It pays to have the umbrella on standby and to be aware of the weather and prepared to seek shelter inside if necessary (on Tuesday).

Beyond this boundary, we will become slightly less humid and enjoy a mix of sun and clouds on Wednesday. The end of the week brings multiple weak disturbances, which will mean the possibility of a shower or storm for Thursday and Friday.

Right now it looks like the weekend might feature some wet weather, mainly Sunday, but we’ll have to monitor how these systems play out over the next few days. Temperatures will generally be around or slightly above average.
