Stay Informed: Yellow Alert Issued for Zonda Winds in Province – Strong Impact Expected in Greater Mendoza

As planned, the zonda it began to blow in some sectors of the province this Friday morning. He National Metereological Service issued a yellow alert that anticipates that the hot wind will blow with a moderate to strong intensity.

The phenomenon will affect a large part of the provincial territory and in Greater Mendoza it will begin to be felt strongly in hours of solar noon, that is, between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

In the early hours of the morning, Civil defense released a report with the areas in which the hot wind has already begun to be felt. According to the survey, the affected sectors are:

San Rafael: southwest wind at 7 km/h. San Carlos: North wind at 6 km/h. Uspallata: moderate to strong wind from the West. Punta de Vaca/Polvareda: moderate west wind. Los Penitentes/Puente de Inca: moderate west wind. Potrerillos: moderate to strong west wind. General Alvear: wind from the North sector between 7 to 9 km/h.

On the other hand, there is an orange alert for intense snowfall in high mountains, for now, the pass to Chile is passable, but the authorities are monitoring the outlook to assess whether it is necessary to close it or not.
