A major nuclear emergency exercise has started on the grounds of SCK CEN, in Mol, the Belgian nuclear research center. The exercise will end at 3:30 p.m., said the Crisis Center.
“We do this kind of exercise regularly. It is also obligatory,” explains the spokesperson. All people in the vicinity of Dessel and Mol have been warned regarding the exercise, and will therefore (normally) not panic at the sight of the emergency services.
The simulation scenario, kept secret for the moment, will only be known following the exercise.
