In the summer, young people, they are often found at festivals. It is for this reason that Solidaris, with the help of the Festi Team (Latitude Jeunes) and the family planning centers of the Sofélia network, is going to meet them, on stands set up at the heart of major festivals such as the Ardentes ( already passed), the Francofolies de Spa, Esperanzah! or even Ronquières and the Solidarities. The goal? Inform regarding STIs (sexually transmitted infections) but also regarding a whole series of other topics such as alcohol or noise.
Dramatize certain topics
“As a planning centre, we regularly hold events and raise awareness in the festive environment. This is part of our missions,” explains Frédéric Brichau, from the Willy Peers Family Planning Center in Namur. “For us, it’s obviously important to reach out to young people and be where they are,” he adds.
On the spot, the young people will find professionals but also other young people “who speak to young people”, namely the Festi Team. “Everyone is there to put people at ease and play down certain subjects such as STIs, which are circulating once more and once more. Chlamydia remains frequent, gonorrhea is on the rise… It is therefore important to provide information, in particular on the external condom and the internal model which is less known. We have visuals that often intrigue them,” adds Frédéric Brichau.
It will also be possible to obtain free condoms at the stand.
