As you know, the month of October is dedicated to breast cancer screening as part of the Pink October campaign. If the Agglo organizes its traditional Running and walking VYVS en Rose on Sunday October 1, the municipalities of the region also play the game by offering a multitude of activities during the month of October.
Breast cancer screening is no longer a taboo and it can save your life. With the health crisis we are going through, we have noted a historic decline in participation in organized breast cancer screening: only 42.8% of the women concerned took part last year.
To date, 1 in 8 women are at risk of being affected. However, it must be remembered: screening carried out in time can save your life! Detected early, breast cancer is cured in 90% of cases. Simple and 100% reimbursed, screening must be carried out every two years, from the age of 50.
Furthermore, throughout life, particularly from the age of 25, gynecological follow-up with palpation by a healthcare professional is recommended once a year.
