The NVIDIA RTX 4090 has become a headache for many users by causing the connector and even power cables to melt. While the manufacturer does not launch a definitive solution, the programmer u/mamolengo from Reddit decided to create a security system to avoid these situations on their own.
The program uses a 10k temperature sensor that can be purchased for around R$20 to US$70 at internet stores and can be attached to the header of most motherboards. The objective is to use the sensor to monitor the temperature of the GPU connection cable to avoid overheating using adjustments in the system through a program.
Among the possibilities, the program created by u/mamolengo allows you to define various types of behavior for each program installed on your computer. This way you can define whether the program will just be closed or the computer will automatically shut down if the 600W 12VHPWR cable reaches a certain temperature.
