Stay at a luxury hotel in the Masai Mara without spending a penny; Techie by sharing experience

Stay in a dreamy hotel in Kenya’s Masai Mara forest, and that too without spending a penny! Anirban Chaudhary, a software engineer from Jharkhand, has shared such an experience on X Platform.

Earlier this month, Anirban Chaudhary went on a trip to the Masai Mara with his family. Stayed for five days at JW Marriott Lodge with ultra luxury facilities. Enjoyed amenities such as accommodation in tented suites, luxury safaris, swimming pool and a ride in a Land Rover. This journey, which would have cost a total of nearly two and three-quarters of a lakh, did not cost a single penny.

Anirban Chaudhary enjoyed these benefits using Marriott Bonvoy Points. Marriott Bonvoy Points are rewards points earned for staying at Marriott hotels and using other Marriott services. Points can be earned by staying at Marriott hotels, using Marriott credit cards, dining, renting cars, and more. Most Marriott hotels award 10 points per dollar spent, and Elite members can earn up to 17.5 points per dollar they spend.

These points can be redeemed for free hotel stays, cruise bookings, airline miles, etc., as well as shopping, gift cards, tech and fashion items. Marriott Bonvoy members enjoy benefits such as free in-room Wi-Fi, membership fees and mobile check-in. Elite members also have additional benefits such as late checkout, free breakfast and lounge access.

Anirban Chowdhury, who loves traveling a lot, travels with credit cards. Own about forty credit cards but use only five of them regularly. The entire trip was covered by bonus points earned on Anirban Chaudhary and his wife’s credit cards.

A year ago, when planning a Masai Mara trip, I needed 1.06 lakh points for a night at the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge. They also had an offer for guests making reservations using their loyalty points, if they booked a four night stay at the lodge, the fifth night stay was free. So Anirban Chaudhary paid 4.24 lakh Marriott Bonvoy points for a five-night stay.

The charges include not only accommodation but also meals, travel in luxury cars, sundowners and safari rides. Stayed in a luxury tent measuring 1,220 square feet. There was a patio for stargazing and spectacular views of the Talek River.

Anirban Chaudhary is currently preparing for a trip to Singapore in October using reward points. He had to pay just Rs 3,000 to travel in Singapore Airlines suites which cost around Rs 3 lakh. Anirban Chaudhary says that the remaining amount was paid through reward points.

The Masai Mara is a national game reserve located in Narok, Kenya, adjacent to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It is considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and one of the Ten Wonders of the World.
