The total volume of exports of Indian tea, coffee beans and spices to Russia last August amounted to $8.95 million, which is the largest volume of monthly Russian purchases from India since last June, and compared to August 2023, imports increased by 25%.
Last August, Russia bought Indian tea worth $5.6 million and coffee beans – worth $2.2 million. Among the spices with the highest demand were unground cumin seeds ($400,000), pepper ($360,000) and cassia (cinnamon) powder – $150,000. In addition, Russia purchased instant coffee from India worth $8.31 million, as well as roasted chicory and other coffee substitutes worth $850,000.
At the same time, last August, Russia became the fifth largest supplier of Indian tea, after the UAE ($15.8 million), Britain ($10.2 million), Iraq ($9.4 million), and the United States ($8.2 million). Russia also ranked ninth in terms of the volume of coffee bean imports from India. The list of the five largest Indian coffee suppliers includes Italy ($31.4 million), Germany ($16.6 million), Libya ($7.3 million), Belgium ($7 million) and the UAE ($5 million).
During the first eight months of this year, exports of tea, coffee beans and spices from India to Russia amounted to $77.7 million, a third more than a year ago. According to the results of 2023, Indian exports to Russia amounted to $92.3 million.
