Station F welcomes a “Quantum House” to further unite the French ecosystem

New stage in the structuring of the French quantum ecosystem. Indeed, a program exclusively dedicated to quantum computing is officially launched at Station F. Called “the House of Quantum”, it aims to bring together the different components of the sector (academics, startups, industrialists, talents and investors) to accelerate the development of the French ecosystem.

Under the roof of the immense Halle Freyssinet, not far from BNF in Paris, the Maison du Quantique will bring together around ten key startups in the sector in France, like Pasqal, which has completed a funding round of 100 million euros earlier this year, Quellela or Alice & Bob. “The inauguration of this first Quantum House is a landmark moment for the French quantum ecosystem. This common space between startups and manufacturers will help promote and strengthen synergies between the different players in the ecosystem.says Valérian Giesz, CEO of Quandela.

As part of this new program, 45 workstations at Station F will be dedicated to startup research teams and thesis students from partner industrial groups. Among the latter, we find Boston Consulting Group, EDF, Eviden (Atos), Janssen, OVHcloud and Thales. “Quantum needs interdisciplinarity because neither hardware manufacturers nor academics nor industrialists have the 360-degree vision necessary for the emergence of useful quantum computing”analyzes Stéphane Tanguy, in charge of R&D information services and technologies within EDF.

“Create new synergies and embody the new quantum revolution”

It is therefore to remedy this situation that the Maison du Quantique is being created today within the XXL startup campus. And for good reason, upon entering Station F, the quantum ecosystem integrates the heart of the French Tech reactor. This presence will allow it to be better heard and take on a greater scale. At the initiative of this approach, we find the Lab Quantique, with the support of the investment fund Quantonation, which contributes to putting gems in the sector into orbit, and the Teratec association. “The Quantum Lab has always been keen, since its creation 5 years ago, to bring together the different stakeholders of the quantum ecosystem. It is therefore with pride that we are opening the first French Quantum House at Station F in order to extend our unifying efforts, create new synergies and embody the new quantum revolution.indicates Kenzo Bounegta, general director of Lab Quantique.

This Quantum House is also supported by the national HQI initiative (France Hybrid Quantum Initiative). The latter, with an overall budget of 72.3 million euros as part of the France 2030 plan, should make it possible to take a decisive step towards quantum computing by combining a hybrid computing platform (classical and quantum) with a academic and industrial research program, in order to promote the dissemination of uses. It is with this in mind that the HQI initiative decided to partner with the Quantum Lab to launch this project which is coming to fruition today at Station F. To date, 80% of the French quantum ecosystem is distributed between Paris , Saclay and Grenoble.
