Statement by the spokeswoman for the US Embassy in Beirut, Julia Groblaker
January 6, 2023
Hello from the US Embassy in Beirut
Thank you so much for the kind messages many of you have sent over the past few days.
The Embassy in Beirut is proud of President Biden’s nomination of Ambassador Shea to serve as Deputy US Representative to the United Nations.
But this is only the first step in a multi-step process for office that requires the advice and approval of the US Senate. Meanwhile, Ambassador Shea is still here in Beirut serving as the US Ambassador to Lebanon.
The Ambassador looks forward to continuing her role in our partnership with the Lebanese people, as we work to help save the Lebanese economy and promote solutions to overcome the political paralysis, so that the people can once once more have an elected president and an empowered government, ideally committed to reforms, transparency, and good governance.
As the ambassador always says, we are in this challenge together.
Thanks
