State SPÖ sees staff shortages in kindergartens

She refers to a current query response from education officer LH-Deputy. Christine Haberlander to the state SPÖ. 290 groups in kindergartens and playrooms would have to be led by assistants.

“In the number of group leaders who do not actually meet the professional requirements, there was a massive jump within one year from October 2021 to October 2022: in the toddler rooms, there was a tripling from 54 to 165. In kindergarten groups, the number also increased from 58 more than doubled to 125. These are the effects of the neglected personnel planning in recent years,” says Margreiter.

Given these numbers, there can be no talk of a number one children’s country, according to the SP’s criticism of Haberlander. Recruiting personnel must therefore be the top priority in 2024, demands Margreiter. As of December 20th, 172 skilled workers and 94 teaching assistants are being sought across Upper Austria on the Education Directorate’s job platform.
