State Secretary Mayer on the death of Dubravka Ugrešić

Secretary of State for Arts and Culture Andrea Mayer: “Wrote with great clarity once morest war and growing nationalism”

Vienna (OTS) “Dubravka Ugrešić wrote in great clarity once morest the war and the growing nationalism of her native Croatia. Exposed to public ostracism and branded as a traitor, she left her homeland in 1993. In exile she writes courageously, ironically and with a lot of compassion regarding her lost homeland and deeply touches us readers. Dubravka Ugrešić’s voice will be missed, her journalistic power once morest war, violence and nationalism lives on in her books,” said Andrea Mayer, Secretary of State for the Arts and Culture.

Dubravka Ugrešić was awarded the Austrian State Prize for Literature, among others.
