Awards to Austrians: “further impressive proof of the ‘Filmwunder Österreich'”

Vienna (OTS) “The fact that Austrian filmmaking once once more plays an important role in the German Film Prize is further impressive proof of the ‘Filmwunder Österreich’,” said State Secretary for the Arts and Culture Andrea Mayer today on the awards presented yesterday in Berlin.

“With the award for best leading actor, Felix Kammerer must definitely be described as a star of German-language film, maybe even beyond that. With his impressive performance in ‘Nothing New in the West’, he rightly cast a spell over the cinema audience.

I am particularly pleased regarding the documentary film award for the film ‘Elfriede Jelinek – Letting the language off the leash’, which was co-financed by the Austrian Film Institute, because it honors a film in which literature is the focus – and thus two art forms in a wonderful way to be united.

And finally, I would also like to congratulate Tanja Hausner on her award for the best costume design in ‘Sisi und Ich’ – because historical films like this live from their costumes – using them correctly is an art in itself.”
