Lower Austrian Farmers Association Director Nemecek: “Protect the climate and use domestic energy potential”

St.Pölten (OTS) In the state parliament session on September 21, 2023, the Lower Austrian state parliament called for a clear commitment from the federal government to biomass.

For Lower Austrian Farmers’ Association director Paul Nemecek, this is an important decision, especially in the interests of local forest farmers and climate protection: “Our farmers are dependent on the weather, climate and fertile soil. Climate change is endangering their livelihoods. Lower Austria is committed to active climate policy. We use existing domestic energy potential such as the forest and thereby protect our future.”

Farmers as a crucial partner in climate protection

With the adoption of the resolution in the state parliament, a further step in the demand paper of the Lower Austrian Farmers’ Association was implemented. “We are calling for the energy transition and a focus on renewable energies. Our farmers are a crucial partner here. “No matter whether it’s the wind power in the field, the PV systems on the roofs of the farms, stables and warehouses and also the management of the forest as a renewable energy source in biomass,” concludes Nemecek.
