State-of-the-art fire detection radars have begun operation at Sheikh Shui 2024-07-20 07:11:52

As Haralambos Stergiadis, head of the Directorate of Civil Protection of Central Macedonia, reported to APE-MPE, one has been installed in Sheikh Sou, the second has been placed at the Kranos location in Philippi and the third, which will be portable, is expected to be put into operation on next week as it will be mounted on a self-propelled vehicle that remains to get its license plates to begin the necessary patrols in the forest.

It should be noted that the two fixed fire detection radars have been placed on metal pillars that exceed 10 meters in height. They have a 360-degree rotation and through a high-resolution camera, they monitor and detect the traces of fire and smoke, while sending data via a satellite antenna to the fire service.

At the same time, as Mr. Stergiadis pointed out, the Civil Protection of the Central Macedonia Region has already installed five fire detection systems with drones, which are in operation in Sheikh Sou, Oreokastro, Thermi, Sithonia and Ouranoupoli.
