LH Mikl-Leitner: Internationally prestigious project
St. Polten (OTS/NLK) – The feature film “The 67th Summer”, produced by Film AG Produktions GmbH and directed by Abu Bakr Shawky, tells a historical family drama that spans three decades.
On the initiative of the governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, the Lower Austrian provincial government decided to subsidize production in the amount of 120,000 euros. “This internationally prestigious project once once more underlines the importance of Lower Austria as a film region,” says the provincial governor with conviction.
“The 67th Summer” treats the life of an Austro-Egyptian family as a historical family drama. The love story of the director’s parents is told in a time of political tension and social upheaval.
Abu Bakr Shawky is recognized as an aspiring Austro-Egyptian filmmaker, his debut film Yomeddine was Egypt’s official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards.
Several locations in Lower Austria such as Klosterneuburg, Perchtoldsdorf, Wiener Neustadt, Puchenstuben and others are planned for a total of four shooting days.
Film AG Produktions GmbH has switched production operations to sustainable production. The part implemented in Austria is accompanied by a green producing officer and an external green consultant.
