On the evening of August 24, the Voronezh area was attacked by drones again. A state of emergency was imposed in three settlements of the Ostrogorzhsky district due to the explosion of “explosives”.
Governor Alexander Gusev declared a risk of attack in the area at 1:12 a.m. At three o’clock in the morning, he reported that an aviation-type drone had been destroyed. “Due to the falling drone debris, a grass fire broke out in one of the cities, which has been extinguished,” the head of the region wrote on the Telegram channel. Earlier, one person suffered shrapnel injuries and received medical assistance.
03:46 Gusev reports that several more drones have been shot down in the area. “Fragments fell and caused a fire, which caused the explosives to explode,” he said. There was no information on new casualties yet.
At 7:16, the alarm was lifted. After 40 minutes, Gusev summarized the results of the attack. According to him, that night, air defense forces and electronic warfare equipment on duty in the Voronezh region destroyed and suppressed five drones.
“In order to eliminate the consequences of fires and explosive explosions in the Ostrogozh district, an emergency regime was implemented on the territory of three settlements. One village and one SNT were evacuated, with a total of about 200 people,” the governor said. A temporary accommodation center was set up for residents, but almost everyone was staying with relatives, Gusev wrote.
Two people were injured. One woman was taken to hospital in serious condition, while the other suffered a graze wound but refused admission.
Gusev wrote that civilian buildings were not damaged. But a village in the Ostrogorzhsky district may be without power due to damaged power lines. Maintenance work in the energy department can only begin after obtaining permission from the operating services department.
As of the time Gusev published this article (07:57 Moscow time), the explosions in the Ostrogozhsky district were still continuing.
