Samyi was involved in numerous art projects in Carinthia, most recently his project for the anniversary year 2020 with the title “Freedom of Choice. Svoboda izbire. To freedom of choice. 100 years of the Carinthian referendum ”, as an artist Samyi also took part in the project“ Building bridges / Gradimo mostove ”with the installation“ Forbidden Fruits ”on the historic Lippitzbach Bridge. Programmatic for his work in Carinthia was the preoccupation with the interaction between different structures of society.
Carinthia: home of the youth
Born in Vienna in 1958, Samyi studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. At the beginning, Samyi experimented with a wide variety of artistic media, until he later turned to artistic exhibition design. He moved to Carinthia, his home in his youth, in 1991, where he celebrated his first artistic successes, for example in the Freihausgasse gallery or with stage designs for the neuebuehnevillach. In 2014 Samyi founded the “Museum am Bach”, or mab for short, in Ruden, in the context of which he devoted himself to the above-mentioned topic of critical discourse in connection with the most diverse aspects of social coexistence.
